Vacation Rental Information
For 12 years, we, at As You Like It, have been helping our clients select vacation rentals that suit their individual needs. Most of our properties are privately owned and let out as vacation rentals. We work with colleagues overseas who help us make recommendations to our clients about particular properties. We travel frequently to inspect our accommodations and to make sure they continue to be of a high standard.
We have “self-catering” accommodations in the countryside in England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, as well as flats in London and apartments in Paris, Dublin and Edinburgh. We are also beginning to handle some select properties in France, Italy and South Africa.
All of our apartments rent for a minimum of one week. In the larger cities properties are generally available for arrival any day Sunday through Saturday and additional days can be booked on a pro-rated basis. In the countryside many, though not all, properties are only available from Friday to Friday or Saturday to Saturday. Those properties which do not have designated weekly booking periods are often available for additional days on a pro-rated basis.
Once you decide to book with us, we get the final approval from the property manager. Then we send you a confirmation in writing along with our Booking Form. We request a 50% deposit within 10 days and the balance is due 70 days before the rental commences. Shortly after we receive your final payment, we send you a voucher with the exact address, telephone number, key collection, check-in information, and name of a local contact person.
Payment must be by check—we do not accept credit cards. All bookings are final and we do not accept cancellations. For this reason, we strongly advise you to purchase trip cancellation insurance which covers unexpected changes in plans.
Usually the rental prices include heat, electricity, towels, linen, taxes and As You Like It fees unless otherwise specified in our written correspondence with you. Telephone charges, of course, are extra. All properties are cleaned before and after each rental period. Most accommodations require a refundable breakage/damage deposit which can range from $200 to $600 - depending upon the property.

Price Codes
All properties rent for a minimum of seven nights. In some cases additional nights can be added on a pro-rated basis. Some countryside properties only permit full week rentals, usually from Saturday to Saturday. All prices are in U. S. dollars and all payments are taken in U.S. dollars.
Price ranges are approximate. The cost of any individual property may vary based on time of year and currency exchange rates. Once a price is quoted to you for a property it is firm and will not be changed prior to your rental regardless of currency fluctuations.

Travel Tips
  • When prepaying a trip it is always wise to purchase travel insurance.
  • Make two copies of your passport. Keep one on your person but separate from your actual passport, and give the other to a friend at home.
  • To avoid vacation fatigue be sure to allow time to acclimate to time changes.
  • Although there are usually ATM machines and currency exchange bureaus in airports, it is often easiest to arrive with some local currency already on hand.
  • Be sure to have explicit directions to your vacation home and the telephone number of the manager who will provide you with the key and property details.
  • Obtain a good guide book and local map of the area you will be visiting before you leave home.
  • Be sure to read about the area you will be visiting and choose one or two sites or activities of particular interest before you arrive. This will help you become comfortable in a new setting more easily.
  • Investigate the various means of public transportation in large cities before you leave home. Discounted tickets are often available from your travel agent in the U.S. but not abroad (e.g. for the London Underground).
  • Buy a local newspaper once you arrive at your destination to acquaint yourself with current issues and activities.
  • It is now quite easy to rent a mobile telephone for use in Europe. By availing yourself of this option family and friends will have one number for you regardless of the number of locations you visit.
  • While bed linens and towels are provided in all of our rental accommodations, most Europeans consider face cloths to be personal items and do not provide them. If you use a face cloth, it is wise to bring one with you.
  • Pack all medications in carry-on luggage – never in checked baggage.
  • If you have memorized your ATM PIN number as letters, convert the PIN to numbers only since key pads in Europe often omit the letters.

All of our vacation rentals are fully furnished and well equipped. Many are privately owned.
A local contact person is always available for assistance with any problems. Our properties rent for a minimum of one week.
Arrival is any day of the week for city flats and apartments. Countryside properties usually rent from Saturday to Saturday.
Normally, check-in time is between 2 PM and 4 PM and check-out is 10 AM.
We confirm the exact price when a reservation is booked. Prices depend on the current exchange rate of the dollar, number in the party and dates of travel. Prices quoted include heat, electricity, towels, linen, cleaning fees, taxes and our fees - unless otherwise stated. Charges for telephone calls are extra. Most properties require a refundable breakage/damage deposit.
